Each year multitudes of Americans celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. We pay homage to the brave Pilgrims who came to find religious freedom in this land.

On this special Thursday, millions of Americans celebrate the miracle of our nation. Here are 3 major reasons why we ought to cherish our forefathers and mothers who sacrificed so much. As we pause and ponder these things, take time to thank God for giving the pilgrims such amazing courage. And remember…

1.  Never forget that we celebrate Thanksgiving because our nation was conceived in liberty.

Thanksgiving awakens us to the miracle of America. We ought to marvel at those courageous souls who sought the American dream. It’s mindboggling that how they gave so much to seek a place where people could live truly free. And for this, we all should be truly thankful. In light of the great value of Thanksgiving, we need to heed Margaret Cousins words. She writes, “Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.” Let all of us have this attitude on Thanksgiving. Also, amid the turkey, dressing, cakes, and pies, shouldn’t we remember our Founding Fathers? Isn’t a Thanksgiving prayer a testimony of how our God blessed America?

2.  Never forget that we celebrate Thanksgiving because we should love to enjoy our family and friends doing life together.

Thanksgiving presents a special day for our family, loved ones, and friends. Let us joyfully delight in each other’s company. Heed what O. Henry wrote Long ago. He said, “There is one day that is ours. Thanksgiving Day is the one day that is purely American.” Aren’t you thankful for this!

3.  Never forget that we celebrate Thanksgiving because God Himself ultimately is our priority. Christ ordains the specials day for His glory and honor.

Televangelist Creflo Dollar offers his perspective on the high and holy value of Thanksgiving. He states that Thanksgiving should be our everyday way of life. Dollar says, “Biblical Thanksgiving is not just a worldly holiday tradition or a religious activity, but rather an everyday spiritual tool. It frees us from stress and pressure while God is getting personally involved on our behalf. When we are grateful, thankful Christians, powerful supernatural forces from heaven are unleashed that cause things to work for us the way they should.”

In this marvelous light, let us commit ourselves and never forget that all the time God is alive, every day, every moment. Yes, His awesome power is our Thanksgiving.
