4 Reasons Why You Should Rise Right Now & Forgive A Family Member
By Dr. James A. Perkins

Each person knows that times come, when we end up having a conflict with a family member. Differences might mean we say or do things that we shouldn’t. Because of personal frustration, we may separate from a loved one without seeking forgiveness for the offense.

We need to know why an immediate personal settling of the issue benefits us. Below are 4 benefits that come our way, when we forgive another.

1.  Right now is the only moment we are guaranteed. No one has a crystal ball to look into the future. So we ought to address the matter while we can, and go seek forgiveness.

2.  Our conscience stops condemning us once we ask for forgiveness. The conscience tells us what’s right and wrong. We know it is wrong not to ask the offended party to forgive us. When we go and seek for forgiveness, we feel the release of condemnation in the conscience.

3.  Seeking forgiveness shows our inner strength not our weakness.  Some think that asking another to forgive reveals how weak we are. The opposite is the truth. Being willing to take responsibility and forgive demonstrates great maturity.

4.  We need to know that failure to forgive places us in a troublesome situation.  Jesus said, “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions” (Matthew 6:14-15).  God wants us to take seeking forgiveness from a loved one as very important act.

Seeking forgiveness is part of life. So rise up right now and forgive your family member.
