Embracing Peace As Your Lifestyle
AS YOUR LIFESTYLE
Deep inside, most of us are driven to seek and enjoy peace. Yet the fact is, while multitudes want it, millions struggle to find true rest for their souls. Here are 3 essentials each of us needs to embrace peace as our lifestyle.
Embracing peace as your lifestyle begins by determining to faithfully keep your conscience clear and at rest.
How common it is for us to fail to pay attention to our conscience. When we decline to heed our inner voice, it is easy to drift into a wrong direction. However, by keeping the conscience sensitive to God, self, and others, the conscience operates as an essential guide in living. Long ago, Sophocles made clear the strength a negative conscience may influence us. He said, “There is no witness so terrible and no accuser so powerful as conscience which dwells within us.”
Embracing peace as your lifestyle operates best, when we view it as our way of life.
The wise live in a constant state to maintain peace within and without no matter what takes place. Though good or bad situations might come, the wise learn to keep a calm composure. Rap star Eminem describes it as “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.” He shared, “If you want inner peace, then keep your conscience clean.”
Embracing peace as your lifestyle always operates best, when Jesus lives as the only explanation for our lives.
Christ said, “I leave peace with you; I give my peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear.”
Can you say that? Do you live with peace as your lifestyle and serve as a peacemaker? Author William R. Alger viewed a good conscience this way, saying, “After every storm the sun will smile; for every problem there is a solution, and the soul’s indefeasible duty is to be of good cheer.”
Now answer, do you embrace peace as your lifestyle? Do others recognize you as a peacemaker. Or are you often tense, frustrated, and lacking inner peace? Know that a closer walk with Christ will cause us to be motivated to embrace peace as our lifestyle.
