Every year as the Christmas season emerges, multitudes become pressurized by shopping for loved ones and friends. Finding the right gifts involves time, traffic, long lines, and often leads to frustration. How important to consider 3 Ways to Shift from a Hectic to a Happy and Holy Christmas.

  1. To shift from a hectic to a happy and holy Christmas, plan in advance to allow joy to define you.

Make yourself a promise that nothing will rob you of being happy throughout the holidays. Being joyful is a choice, so decide to be happy and holy in your thoughts, feelings, and actions throughout the holidays. Make Pope Francis’ words your aim, “Christmas is joy, religious joy, an inner joy of light and peace.”

  1. To shift from feeling the hectic hustle and bustle and being happy and holy this Christmas, think pleasing thoughts.

Look around you at all the people seeking to find gifts for family and friends. Consider how such efforts, sacrifices, and considerations go into shopping and gift-giving. Remember that the holidays and gift-giving really says, “I care for you. I love you.” Isn’t this a wonderful thing? An unknown author put it this way, “One of the nice things about Christmas is that you can make people forget the past with a present.”

  1. To shift from a hectic to a happy and holy Christmas, keep your mind on Jesus.

It’s true that all the running around can keep us from remembering the real reason for the season. While we may start out with good intentions, the traffic, the crowds, and the long lines do tend to weary and aggravate us. If not careful, we may begin to forget what Christmas is all about. Then we might end up becoming a real Scrooge. Don’t allow yourself to go that way, but stay focused on the fact that Jesus really is the reason for the season, and for always.  Every second of every day exists to praise the Lord. Christ alive lives as our eternal Christmas. What an awesome gift He gives to us! He is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

Now accept this small gift to you, as you shift from a hectic to a holy Christmas. Treat every day throughout the holidays and throughout the year as Christmas. Embrace the insight of the great writer C. S. Lewis, who wrote this powerful truth. “The Son of God became a man to enable men to becomes sons of God.” Allow the insight of this Christmas gift to be yours throughout this year to be yours.
