Facing fear is part of life, and all people know the feeling. Why not take a moment and identify 3 fears about: your past, present, and future? Then apply 4 Steps to Overcome Fears You Face.
F. – First, Face It. And I mean without flinchin, really look at what makes you afraid. In the introduction above, you identified three fears. Now man up, and stare them right in the eye. Stop avoiding the “boogey man” and courageous look at what makes you afraid. Then take to heart what President Franklin Roosevelt said, “We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.” So be bold, see what you are afraid of, and quit running or denying its presence.
E. – Examine it. Now look without blinking at your fear, and walk it back in your mind. Study when the fear first started to appear, and where it came from. Then answer these questions: Are my fears valid or do I allow my emotions to play tricks on me? Am I afraid of a person, place, or thing, and if so, why? Who may I talk to and get their assistance in dealing with my fears.
A. – Arrive at the Root Cause. You must go back-back-back and get to the bottom of what triggers your fearful reactions. Your mission is to find the root cause of what is bothering you, and awaken the inner drive to remove it. Author Veronica Roth offers this wise counsel about seeking the root cause. She writes, “Fear doesn’t shut you down; it wakes you up.”
R. – Run, not Away from Fear, but to the One Who Removes It. Since we are made by God and for Him, then realize that you should run to Jesus. He alone can completely resolve your fears, as you put your faith in Him. His Word presents, “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). So rely on Christ in you to take your fears away. Here’s all you have to do:
“In your hour of need run into the arms of Jesus.
In your hour of need run into His arms, into His arms.
Your love will not fail us, no! Your love will not fail us, no!”
