3 MOTIVATIONS TO STAY
ON COURSE WITH CHRIST
By Dr. James A. Perkins
How common it is to get off course in the Christian walk. Some start strong, motivated to be faithful in a zealous commitment to God. Then, things happen that cause a drifting away. In order to correct this tendency, here are 3 Motivations to Stay on Course with Christ by keeping Jesus as primary in daily life.
Stay on Course with Christ by daily reading and heeding His Word.
God has given us the greatest Book of all – His Holy Bible. By hungering and thirsting to know Him and grow in His through His Word, a person develops spiritual “muscle” in the Lord and the strength of His might. The late Billy Graham said this about the importance of God’s Word, “The Bible teaches that faith is the only approach that we have to God.”
Stay on Course with Christ by hungering and thirsting after the Lord’s righteousness. Answer this question: If I were to die today, do I know for sure I would spend eternity with God in heaven?
We naturally know our need for water and food. Yet, how easy and common for some to drift away from the daily pursuit of loving God and growing in His Word. Embrace these words from Scripture, “Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” Jeremiah 15:16
Stay on Course with Christ being 100% sure that you have fully accepted Jesus into your life.
Answer this question: If I were to die today, do I know for sure I would spend eternity with God in heaven? If your answer is yes, then rejoice. If you are not really sure, then sincerely prayer the following prayer. “Lord Jesus, I admit that I have been running my life and failing to fully ignore You . Right now, I want to accept you Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. By faith, I thank you for dying on the cross for me and giving me your eternal life. Amen.” By simply accepting by faith the promise God offers you in receiving Christ, thank Him. Praise Him, if you died right now you would go to heaven to be with Him. And if you live another day, or for many years to come, constantly thank the Lord that He lives His life in you.
